Gentle Leader Head Collar Blue

The Gentle Leader Head Collar Blue is designed to help stop pulling and make walks calmer and more enjoyable for both you and your dog. Unlike a muzzle, it allows your dog to pant, drink, and bark comfortably while gently guiding their head to discourage unwanted behaviours. When fitted correctly, it provides fast and effective control without causing discomfort or stress. Often called the 10 Minute Attitude Adjuster , the Gentle Leader is a recommended training tool when used alongside positive reinforcement to teach polite walking and reduce jumping.

The Gentle Leader Headcollar is designed with two soft nylon straps that work together to guide your dog gently and effectively. The collar strap sits high on the neck, while the nose loop rests comfortably across the base of the muzzle, allowing natural movement without restriction.

Nose Loop - applies light pressure similar to how a pack leader would guide a subordinate, helping your dog recognise you as the leader in a calm, instinctive way.

Neck Strap - targets a natural relaxation point at the back of the neck, encouraging dogs to respond by moving backward rather than pulling forward, helping correct lead-pulling behaviour.

Key Benefits:

  • Features two soft nylon straps for a comfortable and secure fit
  • Collar sits high on the neck without applying pressure
  • Nose loop fits loosely across the base of the snout for comfort

How to Use:

  1. Select the correct size based on your dog's approximate weight; all sizes are adjustable.
    • Some breeds with unusually large or small heads may require a different size than weight alone suggests.
    • Medium and large breed puppies can start using a Medium from 8 10 weeks until they reach 30kg.
    • Large breed puppies already over 20kg should begin with a Large size.
    • Short-snout breeds (e.g. Bulldogs, Boxers) use the Short Snout version in Medium or Large.
  2. Fit the Neck Loop high behind the ears, snug enough that only one finger barely fits.
  3. A snug Neck Loop allows the Nose Loop to sit looser.
  4. Position the Nose Loop in front of the eyes and behind the corners of the mouth.
  5. Ensure the Nose Loop moves freely but cannot be pulled off the muzzle.
  6. Check the fit daily, especially for growing puppies.
  7. Once fully grown, excess neck strap may be trimmed and sealed to prevent fraying.
