Shield Pour On

A ready-to-use insecticidal pour-on for horses that aids in the control of synthetic pyrethroid susceptible nuisance flies, biting insects and Queensland Itch on horses.  Easy to use and lasts longer that sprays. Nuisance flies treatment should be applied every 6 weeks or as required depending on insect pressure.

Treatment should start at the beginning of the season by applying once weekly (or more frequently as required) for the control of Queensland Itch.

Key Benefits:

  • Kills biting insects, including Buffalo Fly, Stable Fly, Midges & Sand-flies, Bush and domestic flies, Mosquitos
  • Aids in the control of Queensland Itch and Equine Allergic Dermatitis
  • Spreads throughout the waxy layer of the horse's skin from the site of application, providing long-lasting protection
  • Rain and sweat resistant
  • Economical - 250mL provides 6 weeks of protection for 500kg horses
  • Safe to use on pregnant mares and foals over 12 weeks of age

How to Use:

  1. Simply pour SHIELD on the horse
  2. For best results, allow 24 hours for it to dry before hosing, brushing, saddling, etc.
  3. For flies focusing around the legs and underbelly area, divide the dose and apply at the top of each leg

Dose per bodyweight:

Body Weight: mL

< 100kg: 10mL
100kg - 200kg: 20mL
200kg - 300kg: 30mL
> 300kg: 40mL

Cautions:

Frequent washing/rain, rugging, and heavy work (sweating) can reduce the persistence of SHIELD on the horse. Increase application frequency to twice weekly under such conditions.
Perform a small patch test on fine-skinned Arab-type horses to assess skin sensitivity to SHIELD
Avoid treatment during the heat of the day; prefer shade to minimize reactions
