How To Use:

• Teat Selection:
  • Teats should mimic the mother's teat in shape and size for mouth comfort, fit, and proper tooth development. Marsupial teats lengthen as the joey matures; so progression to longer teats is essential. While guidelines are available online, carers can determine the most suitable teat for each individual animal.
• Size of Hole:
  • There is no pre-made hole in the teats; carers must make one to suit the animal's age. Use a hot needle to make a ~1 mm hole, or scissors for larger holes.
  • If the hole is too small, sucking may damage the tip, causing it to rupture.
  • A properly sized hole allows milk to drip slowly when the bottle is upside down.
• Feeding Technique:
  • Use a syringe with a teat fitted over the end for better milk flow control. Always seek advice from experienced carers on proper feeding methods for different species.
• Care and Storage:
  • Latex is a natural material; deterioration can be slowed by keeping teats in a dry, dark space. Store in an opaque, airtight container.
  • Wash teats with warm soapy water.
  • Dry thoroughly.
  • Sterilize if needed using boiling water or infant sterilising solutions.
