Wombaroo Latex Teats

Wombaroo Latex Teats are specially designed feeding teats made for orphaned and hand-reared animals, offering carers a reliable feeding solution across a wide range of wildlife and domestic species. Handmade from natural latex, these teats are available in multiple shapes and sizes to better match the feeding needs of joeys, small mammals, puppies, kittens, rabbits, and other young animals. Their flexible construction helps create a more natural feeding experience while supporting comfortable latch and controlled milk intake.

The Wombaroo teat range is compatible with feeding bottles featuring an 18 24 mm neck size, making them practical for wildlife carers, veterinary clinics, rescue groups, and home animal care. Different teat styles are designed for specific growth stages and species, allowing carers to select the most suitable option as animals develop. Each teat is individually hand-cast from natural latex, resulting in a soft and realistic feel that many carers prefer for hand-raising young animals.

  • Multiple teat sizes and shapes available for growing animals

Teat Selection:

  • Choose a teat that closely matches the mother's natural teat in both size and shape to provide proper mouth comfort and support healthy tooth development.
  • As marsupial joeys grow, they require progressively longer teats, so changing teat sizes over time is recommended.

Hole Size:

  • The teats are supplied without holes, allowing carers to customise the opening based on the animal's feeding needs.
  • Use a heated needle to pierce a small hole approximately 1 mm wide, or carefully trim a larger opening with scissors for bigger animals.
  • A hole that is too small can cause excessive sucking pressure, weakening the teat tip and causing it to split.
  • The correct hole size should allow milk to drip slowly when the bottle is turned upside down.

Feeding Technique:

  • For smaller animals, a syringe fitted with a teat can provide better control over milk flow during feeding.
  • Always seek advice from experienced wildlife carers to ensure safe and appropriate feeding methods for each species.
Caution

Care & Storage:

  • Latex is a natural material and may deteriorate over time.
  • Store teats in a dry area away from direct light exposure.
  • Keep teats in an opaque, airtight container when not in use.
  • Wash thoroughly in warm soapy water immediately after feeding.
  • Dry completely before storing.
  • Some carers choose to sterilise teats by boiling or using infant sterilising solutions.
